2010 VHS Reunion Registration
VHS 2010 Reunion, Aug 20-22, 2010 at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort. Per Person event fee is $100. Event fee covers Friday night meet/greet, Saturday lunch, and sit down dinner Saturday.
Peter Giorgi Memorial Fund
Pete Giorgi, VHS teacher from 1965-1995 and COWEX coordinator, died in his sleep on September 6, 2009.
Carter Johns has started a fund to raise money to place a memorial marker at the American Overseas High Schools in Witchita, KS.
Sam Menitti Passed Away May 31, 2009
DoDEA regrets to announce the death of Mr. Sam Menniti, the Korea District Superintendent for the Department of Defense Dependents Schools – Pacific (DoDDS-Pacific). Mr. Menniti died on Sunday, May 31, after a prolonged illness near his home in Florida.
Reunion 2010: San Antonio, TX
The 2010 VHS All Years Reunion has been confirmed and will take place August 20-22 at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort in San Antonio, Texas.
The exact per night rate will be finalized around Tues, Aug 4, 2009, as will the per person "registration" cost as that will be determined by meet/greet and saturday dinner decision. It should not exceed $100/person.

A very large event in the lives of some of us at VHS was participation in the USO show "OK USA".
I think we got connected to the show by way of our English teacher, who was approached by the USO, because they needed females to fill the female roles.
Bryan Jansing Published in Fast Forward
From Bryan: For well over ten years now I've been interested in this genre called Flash Fiction. Flash Fiction is a form of writing that varies from 55 words to 2,000 words. They're very short stories, but all is told in those few pages. Jorge Borges, Sandra Cisneros are probably two of the most famous in this type of writing.

This might have been the best April Fool's I pulled here at VHSAlumni.com, but it's undoubtedly the worst too.
I was actually really surprised that many people were fooled, and sorry that it affected some people the way it did. At this writing, I continue to receive e-mails from all over, including a couple from VHS staff, expressing all kinds of ranges of emotions. Some express releif, some anger, a lot are stating something similar to "you got me on that one - good joke," but quite a few are flat out mean too.
